Nightstands VII

This project was fun, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of participation. I really do have a good group of friends and co-workers. If I could change one thing, I would take the photos myself. Still, this was a great experience and has inspired me to keep going!

Yes indeed.

I need to thank you.

Maybe they have to do it because they actually try to earn the money to turn their home into a vulgar imitation of Versailles.
Some people have to work to earn their kitsch."

Seriously. I laughed. Hard.

It wasn't terribly gallant but her constant harping on how much she hates liberals (we really aren't all that bad) just steams me off.

Jen,
Your Nightstand Project was a great idea!

A nightstand is very personal space and reveals quite a bit about the person to whom the nightstand belongs.

Note to mr. ducky...

Rothko...

I get it now. Thanks.

Thanks, AOW.
I agree, it is a very personal space. I've always put so much of myself into my personal spaces, and I've seen those spaces as a direct reflection of what is going on inside me.

My spaces have changed as my life has changed. I no longer put much time and effort into my private bath area, whereas before children, I took great pride in my dressing area. Now, I focus my attention on my creative spaces, where I develop film, paint, and create art with the kids. Form follows function. :-)

And that leads to other topics. A woman's home is a refection of her. Is it more decorative or functional? Does the decor serve to impress others, or reflect her deeper self and what she finds comforting, interesting, and beautiful?

My space is much more personal than it used to be.

FJ, I want to see it!!

Sorry, you'll likely have to wait a while... it played at the Dallas Theatre Center just this past March... and played in San Antonio in Feb. There are some documentaries that formed the basis for the play on youtube, though.

This one looks decent... at least as far as backstory goes.

Excellent documentary! Thanks for the link.
