Nightstands IV

Jen,
I'm really enjoying these posts showing different nightstands.

Nightstands are "personal space"!

I'm glad you're enjoying it, AOW.

I am fascinated by personal spaces. I love to look at people's bookshelves, living rooms, and nightstands.

Bookshelves are so revealing!

But a lot of people don't have many bookshelves now. For example, when one of our neighbors remodeled their house, they got rid of almost all the bookshelves. I suppose that my neighbors went to digital books instead.

I do have two Kindles, but I don't get the same satisfaction from e-books as I do from physical books.

I love my Kindle, but a book holds way more than pages.

When I hold my copy of Siddhartha, I am instantly reminded of what was going on in my life when I read it, how it changed me, etc. There's a muscle memory attached to books. I love it...

I could do a "bookshelf" had you asked it...
Jen said…
Consider yourself asked! ;-)

Take two pictures, one of the structure, and one close-up.

oh good! How do i upload it? I don't know.
Jen said…
Well, send the picture to yourself in an e-mail, then forward it to me.

Sent. Could only do a close up of one of the shelves. :(

p.s. i am rather glad of the opportunity. :)

I'm glad too. Now we'll have a portrait of you. :-)
nicrap said…
lol. Not so much mine as of the "women" in my life.

My own books are generally all over the place...

I think I saw a few of yours on there!

It's so nice to get these glimpses of one another. :-)

So.... I suppose I'll start Project Bookshelf next!
nicrap said…
...yes, please do. And let mine be "anonymous" [you can call me "headless nik" then]. ;)

Yes, there were some. Many, actually. But most are either loaned out, or just lying aroud.
Jen said…
I think I may have to stop loaning out books. :(

I rarely ever get them back!
I don't mind, except when it's one of those special books...the dog-eared pages with notes in the margins and a thousand personal memories attached.

I think I've finally learned to stop loaning those books out...

I loaned out Lady Chatterly to a friend a couple years ago. After six months, I mentioned it to her. She promised a dozen times to return it, but never did. Oh, I got so mad!!

Finally I decided to go buy myself another copy and read it again. It wasn't worth the frustration.

Of course, she returned it that week. :p

lol.

I generally don't care much. They are just books. :)

Project Bookshelf? Ye, gods! I've got so many bookshelves! And in a terrible state of disorder, too.
Jen said…
No, it's more than a book.
Jen said…
AOW, mine are in chaos.
nicrap said…
No, it's more than a book.

Yes, i got that. I was speaking generally. :)

Jen said…
Nicrap, I shouldn't comment when I'm having a hard day. I always seem to take it out on you.
nicrap said…
heh. Don't worry. I have a thick skin. ;)
Jen said…
I sure wish I did. Tomorrow will be better.
nicrap said…
I am sure it will be. Nyt!
