To Ducky and AOW: This is the beginning of a project called "Nightstands".
I love seeing what people have on their bedside stable, or in the fridge, in the garage, etc. Maybe I will explore this theme further. (Personal spaces, how they describe us / define us.)

The contents on mine are: TS Eliot' s Four Quartets, ITalian phrasebooks, hand lotion, The Glass Bead Game, candle, crayons, drawing by my 7 yr old, pocket watercolors, Out of The Dust, pens, eye drops...
My nightstand has a lamp with a unique lamp shade, a doily that my mother crocheted, reading glasses, and a copy of Stephen King's latest novel. On the top part, that is. The little second shelf won't show in the photo I took.
I'll send you a photo once I get the photo onto my desktop. Probably not today, though. Off to Haircuttery and the nearby Baskin Robbins today, and the outing will exhaust both Mr. AOW and me.
Thanks for the links! Your friend captures some amazing shots, and I can tell he has fun doing it. Natural beauty all around! I love the abandoned buildings, too.
Jen, FYI...If the nightstand photos I took are good, I'll probably post them no later than Sunday, November 10. Because of the situation with my vision, I queue up posts well in advance most of the time.
Mr. AOW's nightstand (hospital table) is much more interesting than mine!

I remember how Harry Haller had such a mess in his room, and how he admired (but despised) the bourgeois decor.
I can relate.

BTW, I have that same lotion (right background).
My nightstand is quite small and not very interesting. Nonetheless, I'll take a photo!

We don't have much color here in Northern Virginia yet. The fall foliage season is late here.
But West Virginia looks wonderful. Can you access this gallery of photos at the WaPo?
This dogwood photo taken by a friend shows that the color is western Virginia is on schedule.
