(for Z)

I love going down this road. I never drive it out of necessity.
I especially like it in May and June when the honeysuckle is blooming.
We roll the windows down and go slow.

It's weird how something can bring about happiness and sadness simultaneously.
I think it's the awareness of change.

I like this film. So far it's my favorite BW.
I'd like to give caffenol another try soon.

The first reminds me of a road on the island of Kauai. It's rumoured that if you are travelling down the road and have any meat in the car, your car will stall... and won' start until you cut a piece off and throw it out the window.

Menehunes. My former best-friend's cousin swears that the legend is true, and that it happened to him one night as he returned from a wild pig hunt.

I think I might avoid going down that road!

I love that first image! Very inviting!

The shadows in the last image make the photo, IMO.

I should also have mentioned how comforting the aroma on honeysuckle-in-bloom is. One of my fondest childhood memories is climbing our fence covered with honeysuckle.

The third one's textures knock me out.

But the first...ah yes, the first. THANK YOU for the HONOR :-)

There's a street here I rarely have to take out of necessity; It's one of the L.A. streets lined with very tall maple streets that get Autumn colors on them for a few weeks. I love it SO much.

This must be astonishing and SMELL good when the honeysuckles are blooming!

Great photos, Jen..>your B&W's blow my mind.

Good to see you, AOW!
I have childhood memories of honeysuckle, too. We had some in our backyard, and I remember my best friend teaching me how to suck the nectar out of the blooms.

Z, I took my cameras on a long drive and came across that abandoned building. I had a blast and used nearly a whole roll of film.

Xoxo

Jen,
I well remember how to get the nectar from the honeysuckle. I still do so from time to time.

Thersites,
As long as it's not the Hana Highway, which is hell to drive!

Terrific diagonals in the third photo, Jen.

Everything working in that one.

As for the second from the top.

Terrific framing.
Luck or you had the time?

No, it was on Kauai, not Maui, AoW.

As for the menhune story... I suspect that my friend's cousin borrowed it from this... Ancient legends warn that traveling with pork over the Pali Highway, the road that connects Honolulu and Oahu's windward coast, is highly taboo. Pork allegedly attracts agitated spirits and upsets the relationship between the fire goddess Pele and the pig god Kamapua'a.

Those who ignore the legend and carry any pork product in their car may risk encountering car trouble or an accident. Because pork is a kinolau (form) of the pig god, the car trouble is said to be Pele's way of keeping Kamapua'a from traveling within her domain. Many Oahu residents still follow this guideline today.

If you encounter any truth to this myth, try tossing out the meat and see if your situation improves. For those who can't avoid transporting pork, folklorists recommend tying a fresh green ti leaf, bamboo, or banana leaf around the package for protection.

He had been a tour bus driver back in the day... anf we all know how the Portugee get when they talk stories. ;)

Duck, I had the time to wander around my grandfather's old farm and wait. It was a great day, in lots of ways.

I'm learning quite a bit about how my intentions affect my photos.

I love hearing that. I have to remind myself to slow down and do those things.
My eight year old teaches me how to truly enjoy life. She's an expert. ;-)

More I look at it the more I think that farm photo is museum quality.

Definitely museum quality!

A union of composition, meaning and technique.

Something enriching.

Something that withstands time.
