New cyanotypes 2019 / 2020

This process is actually helping me with composition. I think I'm making some progress here.

So pretty...

...Nature is the best art. It's not a search for meaning. It's just a wonder in the experience.

True what you said there,fj. Nature is childlike in this, and should we say man is childish (if not in searching for what doesn't exist than at least in searching for it in all the wrong things.)
Great work, jen! You seem to be making great progress.

Lol! Sorry I missed these comments! I've been busy distracting myself lately. :)

I'll have to share some of my more recent photos, taken in nature, of course.

Please do! More skin is the better. :P

Nicrap! You dummy!
I meant that the photos were nature landscapes.
🙄
nicrap said…
Dang! I had in mind a different landscape. :P

@ nicrap

Like many of us, you obviously read too many Nature (nudist) magazines as a growing boy... ;)

Actually, you probably have more of a Canadian Devil problem... ;)

Lol. You don't put them videos up, right? How do you find them otherwise?
...pure serendipity. :)

...or evil design? ;)

I have mailed you a story, fj! Hope you will like it.

I did! I love the way you write, nicrap. There's no condescending explanations for those not-of-the-culture-like-me, or political narratives, just interpersonal dialogues related to normal daily life. I find it marvelously refreshing, and am uplifted by the novelty of the tales. And I don't even mind that the tale ends in mid-frane... not knowing what becomes the the gluttonous feinter, or the dog... as for five minutes I was transported to another world. Thanks!

ps - You seem to live in the belly of Orwell's whale, uninfluenced by the every day shenanigans of politics.
...."Timeless." That's the word I wanted. :)
nicrap said…
This is indeed high praise, my friend! Thank you! I know i am not worthy of it yet, but i do hope to become one day.

I understand what you are saying. I think some writers try to communicate ideas, or a worldview. A tale is for them no more than a means to that end. Or, at least, for them the idea comes in the beginning the tale later.

Others try to tell a story, that's all. If it also helps communicate a world-view, or an idea, well, that can't be helped. In this sense there is not even a whale, as Rushdie did put it in his rejoinder to Orwell.

Yes, I see... and regardless of what came first, this was a wonderful and timeless piece. Thank you for sharing!

Is that Queen Anne's lace in the second photo?
Jen said…
Hey AOW!! Yes, it is Queen Anne's Lace. I noticed it all over Maine a few summers back, and just recently realized it was growing near my house. I was so excited! It's so beautiful and delicate and makes lovely prints.

Jen,
When I was growing up here in Northern Virginia, Queen Anne's Lace was everywhere! Now -- not so much. Too bad!
