What are the chances one could get cancer from a faulty BRCA 2 gene?

Nah, leave it. She is anyway undergoing the procedure. So there is no point asking the question now. It would only seem as though i was saying she was wrong in doing it.

I don't know. Amazingly, no women in my family have had breast cancer.

A friend of mine recently had some genetic testing to find out what kinds of cancer she is most genetically vulnerable to, and it raised a lot of questions for me. She currently doesn't have cancer (she DID have ovarian CA 20 years ago, but is clear now).

What do you mean she is clear now? Did she undergo a procedure for it?

Yes, she had radiation and chemotherapy.
She got the genetic testing to find out what cancers she was susceptible to in the future. I asked her why she wanted to know, and she said she wanted to be prepared.
