This one is symbolic of my mental state right now. I found it in the floorboard of my car, months after I took it. 












    West Texas. Dark clouds hovering over a golden sunset. It is sublime.

Your last picture reminds me of driving through Iowa... when a storm rolls in, it's like the world suddenly gets a ceiling and everything once so far away grows close.

That's a great way to describe it! I love that feeling. It feels so familiar to me. And although the storm could potentially be dangerous, I usually feel very calm.

In that flat landscape, the weather can really put on a show.

It's difficult, in the photograph of a flat landscape, to capture the sense of distance... the enormity. I have a whole collection of "sunsets at sea". Not one of them ever captured the sense that the "sailor-photographer" intended. :(
