Double inverted symmetry??? Is that possible?
Fix belt tip under books on table top
While holding buckle level, step away
Rotate the buckle once; two pi nonstop
A twist results which looping won't unplay.
Restart and rotate buckle four times pi
And now by looping belt round buckle end
The twists are cleared, exhibiting to eye
Zen essence of rotation; comprehend?
Never mind.

beside the Royal Canal of Dublin town,
Will Hamilton glimpsed spatial clarity,
as view from fourth dimension looking down.
For multiplying triples, fly one higher,
by summing in a more capacious zone,
‘A circuit closed and spark flashed' to inspire
famed maths graffiti carved in Broome Bridge stone.

Do you want me to tell you how I did it? ;)
...just tell me it wasn't "digital"...
Jen said…
It definitely wasn't digital.
🤓
You'd spoil it for me if you told me. It's beautiful!
...and the mystery renders it nearly "sublime"! :)
...a 'surplus enjoyment/ jouissance'. ;p
Jen said…
I love that. I enjoy the mystery, too. So glad to add to your jouissance! :)

Can you see a cross in the picture? First thing i noticed.
Jen said…
Oh my goodness, I just noticed it!
Jen said…
It's a power line. And I miss you, my friend.
nicrap said…
I miss myself, too. ;)

How are you, my friend?
Jen said…
Getting older and wiser every day.

Just kidding. About the wiser part.
nicrap said…
You were born wise. :)
Jen said…
And you're the best. :-)
nicrap said…
Wrong. FJ is the best. :D
nicrap said…
Btw, first i was thinking of saying MAndy Flores is the best... :p
Jen said…
Who is Mandy Flores??

:: Googles Mandy Flores::

Grrrreat. Thanks Nikhil.

:/

Hiya FJ! :)

@JEn

You have something against porn stars now?

It's not a new development. Do you know me?

Did I tell you that I was considering going professional as an Influencer, but my wife won't let me quit my day job. :(

It must because I screw up too many links. ;p

I'm getting back into rock operas this weekend... see you on the flip side!

Now i am curious about the deleted comments. :)
Thersites said…
What, that when adding a link I frequently hit the ' instead of the correct " surrounding the URL? ;P
Jen said…
Yeah, what's up FJ? Are y'all upset that I have a "problem" with pornstars? I bet you're assuming it's some puritanical objection, aren't you? Nope... ;-)

Nope. I was worried that you might start charging Nihil and I for the privilege of teasing you. ;p

btw - Out house got "cheesed" last night. After midnight, someone covered our car, front door, and some of our front bushes in cheese slices, rang the doorbell, and likely filmed my wife's reaction as part of a Tik Tok cheese challenge...

Of course, she called the Sherriff's Office, and they came out and had a good chuckle. All my neighbors now want to know what all the excitement was about....

I hate kids. April 2 is NOT April Fools Day...

Turn THIS BLOG into an only fans? I ran the numbers, and the time spent on coding and video editing far outweighs any income stream. Time is money FJ. 🙃

But you never know. I would certainly be the only one who stays fully dressed and just whines about nothing. Would people pay to see that??
Thersites said…
You know what I love best about Southern women, Nihil. Up North, the women say, "Yes, you can!". Down here, they say, "Y'all can!". ;)
Thersites said…
Would people pay to see that??

There's a market for everything... you just need to tap into THAT audience. One rich heiress who would love to see two grown men get humiliated might be all the audience you need. Find her, and you're in business!
Thersites said…
Like "Three's Company" but with twice the humiliation...
Jen said…
Y'ALL can tease me all ya want, for FREE. I figure you pay for it by having to read the same shit day after day.

Hey, you missed a perfect opportunity to make a grill cheese sammich and get the last laugh.

With this inflation and grocery prices going up, who's the real sucker??

Hehehe
Thersites said…
Sammiches? Heck no. We're going to make jiggly cheesecake and sell the photos. Cuz who doesn't like cheesecake, the jigglier, the better? ;P
Thersites said…
It's ALL in the marketing, after all!
Thersites said…
We can wrap it in WWII Pinup Art packaging and sell it under the Trademark "Jiggly Cheesecake Photos"...

With so many young people "not dating" anymore, there's a HUGE SIMP market out there (explaining the existence of OnlyFans sites and porn).

Women all want to "marry up" socially, and because of porn, men all want to date 10's on the appearance scale.
Thersites said…
This one goes out to Nihil... :P

It's all gotten so much harder to figure life out...

I love how every thread evolves into discussing the hero's journey.
And to think. Nikhil started it all with his mischievousness.

I do need to watch The Matrix again. I've only seen it once.

But regarding simps.evil etc. I'm being as willfully blind as I can to what's happening in society. I don't see how anything else is good for me.
just look out for your kids, best you can. It's all we can do, most of the time.Just don't expect them to listen to you... at least not before they've experienced it first hand. :(
Jen said…
That's pretty much exactly where we are. My eldest (22) is starting to sound more like me when she's talking to the younger two. The 18 year old currently knows more than anyone on earth, but he does listen to his older sister. I find that the less I talk and the more I listen, they tend to come around to common sense.
And yes, no amount of lecturing equals learning a lesson first hand. :-/
nicrap said…
lol. It surely did for me, fj. Haha. Bright girl!

What mischeviousness? I was being truthful, that's all. I did indeed think of Mandy Flores first. Hehe. :D
Thersites said…
@Nihil - AT least now I know where I stand (in need of better 'visuals'). ;)

Lol, FJ!

P.s. it auto corrects FJ to dj.
"Song for St. Tamminy s Day. "The Old Song.

Of Andrew, of Patrick, of David, & George,
What mighty achievements we hear!
While no one relates great Tammany's feats,
Although more heroic by far, my brave boys,
Although more heroic by far.

These heroes fought only as fancy inspired,
As by their own stories we find;
Whilst Tammany, he fought only to free,
From cruel oppression mankind, my brave boys,
From cruel oppression mankind.

"When our country was young and our numbers were few
To our fathers his friendship was shown,
(For he e'er would oppose whom he took for his foes),
And made our misfortunes his own, my brave boys,
And he made our misfortunes his own.
"At length growing old and quite worn out with years,
As history doth truly proclaim,
His wigwam was fired, he nobly expired,
And flew to the skies in a flame, my brave boys,
And flew to the skies in a flame.

Sorry I missed it, FJ. :(
Sylvia Plath, "The Great Carbunkle"

We came over the moor-top
Through air streaming and green-lit,
Stone farms foundering in it,
Valleys of grass altering
In a light neither dawn

Nor nightfall, our hands, faces
Lucent as porcelain, the earth's
Claim and weight gone out of them.
Some such transfiguring moved
The eight pilgrims towards its source--

Toward the great jewel: shown often,
Never given; hidden, yet
Simultaneously seen
On moor-top, at sea-bottom,
Knowable only by light

Other than noon, that moon, stars ---
The once-known way becoming
Wholly other, and ourselves
Estranged, changed, suspended where
Angels are rumored, clearly

Floating , among the floating
Tables and chairs. Gravity's
Lost in the lift and drift of
An easier element
Than earth, and there is nothing

So fine we cannot do it.
But nearing means distancing:
At the common homecoming
Light withdraws. Chairs, tables drop
Down: the body weighs like stone.

Wow! Tell me why that poem reminded you of me? This photo, maybe?
It was the first minutes of the video which made you come to mind... which I associated with your photos here, and your previously posted pictures of Texas... the landscapes... the people... and how you make them all a part of your art/ photography much as Plath made the Yorkshire moors a part of her poetry.

The poem also made me think of photography in general, and was one of Plath's mentioned in the video, which also spoke of light...like the photographer's light, and its' affect on our perceptions, be it the stark and unforgiving light at noon, or the softer lights at dawn/ dusk, or the almost total or silvery darkness at midnight which then captures and emphasizes the movement and changing of the light.

You've often seemed to me very much an artist in the mold of a Plath or a Tennyson. At one moment you're visiting the Horse Springs at noon on Mt. Helicon. At others, dusk at Castalia or with the Muses on Mt. Parnassus.

I know you're busy with life and family. I suppose I'm feeling nostalgic for your younger, and more ambitious and prolific artistic days. No pressure..... ;)

FJ, I'm at a loss for words, which is pretty typical for me. Thank you for sharing these thoughts with me. The interesting thing about looking back at my creative process a decade ago, is that everything was so excruciating, good and bad. If it was beautiful it was overwhelming, if it was sad, it was devastating. And honestly, not much has changed. Especially the past 2 years, I have become quite guarded, not because I don't feel deeply, but because I feel too deeply.
Jen said…
And oddly, I was much busier with the children back then than I am now. Maybe it was my desperate need for time away from them that pushed me to photograph every day. Maybe now that I have some breathing room, I use it to rest more often.
Jen said…
I still take photographs most days, but they just don't seem like they would interest other people. Maybe I should post them anyway. Thank you, for being so generous with your thoughts and encouragement. It means a lot.
Jen said…
And damnit, I sound so robotic when I type. My thoughts are much more emotional. When I first read your comments, my hand went to my heart. I was overwhelmed. One never knows how she is seen or perceived.
I think that you should post more of your work, even if it doesn't quite meet your own personal aesthetic standards... I know that I'd like to see it, and others would, too. And failed experiments are often more fruitful than the successful ones. Who knows, one may bring to mind ot spark some "corrective" at a later date when you revisit them. And you know what they say about minor flaws, they can often serve as 'beauty marks' that hint at a greater perfection present.

I've always thought of blogs as workshops, not museums for completed works. The floors of the best are always covered with chippings... and splattered paint. They advertise, thereby, "an artist at work".

And don't worry about how you or your work is perceived. Not all "tastes" run alike. Just know that you do have a few "groupies". And we appreciate even your failed efforts. Because we've already seen what your capable of. And we love watching you grow as a photographer, artist, and individual.
btw- Have you seen the latest chippings from the floors of Bo Burnham's workshop? Some are really good.

I watched Bo last night. Ahhh I really like him and his art. He actually has a good voice and is a talented musician...I think he went to Tisch? Can't remember. The outtakes were great. I loved the one about the feminist afraid of spiders. "You owe me a dumpling or a dumpling equivalent". I relate to that one.
I advised my daughter yesterday to watch the "spiders" out-take... There were a bunch of wolf spiders trapped in a window well of her new house that were freaking her out. :)
Jen said…
Ew those wolf spiders are creepy. I was stacking firewood yesterday, feeling all strong and tough, when I rolled a log over and a daddy long legs crawled onto my hand. I screamed like a little girl and laughed at myself.
