We carry our past with us, to wit, the primitive and inferior man with his desires and emotions, and it is only with an enormous effort that we can detach ourselves from this burden. If it comes to a neurosis, we invariably have to deal with a considerably intensified Shadow. And if such a person wants to be cured it is necessary to find a way in which his conscious personality and his Shadow can live together. CW 11: Psychology and Religion: par 132, pg 76

...or perhaps just a neutral "frame" for limitting the vision captured in your photo.

Don't stop... keep going, ducky!

Here we go round the prickly pear
Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear
At five o’clock in the morning.

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion
And the response
Falls the Shadow
Life is very long

Between the desire
And the spasm
Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom

For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

There wasn't much joy in that ode, fj.

Actually, I find a lot of joy in reading and understanding Jung's theory of the Shadow. It makes much more sense than a one-sided existence, which is impossible, and boring as hell. ;-)

I have never seen A Clockwork Orange....I'm scared to watch it!!

The Ludovicco technique is a cure for all ducky's ills... ;)

That's a grim view.

I don't think the video games reveal the truest self. That sounds like Hume
talking. I think they strengthen that destructive drive.

It bothers me that parents don't limit the shit their kids consume. What's that old saying...garbage in....

...and no, I didn't watch Breaking Bad. Too many contradictions, for my taste. ;)

I really like the shadow photo, Jen.

The background is disorienting and the whole picture is difficult to anchor in space.

Breaking Bad breaks me up. The cartel tolerated that moron because there was a shortage of brilliant meth cooks? Oh I do long for realism at times.

It was unbelievable, but I liked Jessie and Hank. Interesting characters.

Thanks Duck. There's an awesome old flour mill downtown with lots of green space around it.

Fj, is there any other Sherlock? ;)

The other show I like is Homeland. Claire Dane rocks.
